At Apollo Counselling Services, we understand that recovering from a workplace injury involves more than just physical healing. Whether you’ve experienced a physical injury, psychological injury, or both, we’re here to support your emotional recovery. We provide WorkCover-approved counselling services , offering compassionate, confidential, and evidence-based support tailored to your unique situation.

Why Counselling After a Work Injury?

Workplace injuries can have a significant impact on your mental wellbeing. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, or uncertain about your future. You might be struggling with:

  • Trauma or emotional distress following the injury

  • Adjustment difficulties after being off work

  • Low mood, anxiety, or loss of identity

  • Conflict with employers, insurers, or medical providers

  • Fear or hesitation about returning to work

Our counselling sessions focus on helping you process the emotional impact of your injury, develop effective coping strategies, and move forward at a pace that feels right for you.

WorkCover recognises primary mental-health claims as compensable injuries (e.g. PTSD, anxiety).

What to expect

One early session can be funded provisionally while your claim is assessed, so you don’t wait for help. If your claim has been accepted by WorkCover Queensland, the cost of your counselling is typically covered for a number of sessions as advised by your Case Manager.

Counselling is completely confidential. We only share progress summaries your insurer needs for funding decisions—with your written consent.

Appointments are available in-person or via telehealth. Our counsellors are experienced in working with first responders, defence personnel, tradespeople, educators, and others impacted by workplace injury or trauma.

Based in Ipswich, we are an accredited provider with WorkCover. There are no gap fees and approved WorkCover sessions are billed directly to the insurer, so you can focus on recovery.

Even a “straight-forward” physical injury can trigger low mood, worry about finances and uncertainty about the future. Left untreated, those reactions can develop into secondary psychological injuries that delay a safe return to work. Counselling helps you:

  • Process trauma or shock related to the incident,

  • Manage pain-related stress and disrupted sleep,

  • Rebuild confidence and communicate effectively with employers and insurers, and

  • create a realistic, graded plan for resuming meaningful duties.
